PT Pelat Timah Nusantara Tbk or PT Latinusa in short, the only tinplate producer – raw material of can - in Indonesia, has implemented Public Expose on 13 June 2013 and disclosed about its performance on 1Q – 2013. Currently Latinusa has booked net profit on 1Q – 2013 as much as USD 552 Thousand, this is due to increasing net sales about 37% from USD 31,312 thousand on the same quarter of last year become USD 42,853 thousand in this year.
Furthermore on 1Q – 2013 market share has experienced increase from 48% on last year become 60% in this year. “Approaching Idul Fitr this year, many of our customers has ordered tinplate particularly on food segment, so that there is increasing sales in the several segment particularly on Biscuit and Candy, Food dan milk” Said Suprapto, Commercial Director of PT Latinusa, Tbk.
Price competition which less competitive with imported product, Latinusa still able to increase its sales with market penetration through DCDD (Quality Cost Delivery & Development) program. Our sales team able to improve and looking for the opportunity on the market particularly on food segment, so that we can booked profit in this quarter” added Suprapto.
Currently Latinusa have optimizing production capacity 160.000 MT per year to fulfill National cinsumption needs about 200.000 MT per year, however with current condition, Latinusa’s plan to build the second line tinplate factory in Cilegon can not be realized in the near future yet, on the other side import product competition with less competitive price makes us have to fight adjust market price, it has caised we have difficulties to cover production cost. “Currently our target is to book profit in 2013 with sales target on 2013 about 150.000 MT” added Suprapto.
Expected domestic tinplate market condition become better along with economic improvement in Asia, so that tinplate price would become competitive and trade competition be healthy.
