PT Pelat Timah Nusantara Tbk or PT Latinusa in short, the only tinplate producer – raw material of can - in Indonesia, has booked net income for 3Q – 2011 as much as 13,196 bilion. This net income sustain decreased about 81% if compared with the same quarter for last year, cause of net income decreased due to net sales just reached 998,280 billion if compared with the same quarter for last year as much as 1,065,457 billion .
Domestic market condition are not condusive at this time as resulting from economic recession in several countries like in Europe, USA and Thailand, makes a lot of tinplate producer like in China and foods can packaging producer like in Thailand has changed their sales strategy to Asia market. Indonesia market is a potential market for them, so this is difficult to PT Latinusa for expand market share in domestic market. Tinplate import especially from China willing to take risks give the competitive price for reduce their inventory. Therefore we have to “sacrifice” to give the best price for domestic market”, said Suprapto, Commercial Director of PT Latinusa.
“Revamping project which will done on early of 2012, currently has been running for construction process, which is replacing of old machine with the newest. Now we are focus for completion of revamping project, so we are ready to faced 2012 and the future to fullfil tinplate demand in Indonesia”, adds Suprapto. “We still focused that we have target more than 50% for market share until the end of this year”.
“With revamping project we optimist we can increase efficiency, product quality, and to fullfil domestic market needs due to we have plan to increasing yearly product capacity from 130.000 MT/year to 160.000 MT/year”, said Suprapto.
