PT Pelat Timah Nusantara Tbk (“Latinusa”) the only tinplate (raw material for can packaging) producer in Indonesia, starts 2011 by launching a CSR program called “5000 Coin Box” which is done by collaboration with Coin A Chance, a social movement initiated in Jakarta in December 2008. This CSR program aims to support Coin A Chance activity and will indirectly supports education for unfortunate Indonesian children.
Coin A Chance is a movement which invites people to collect “small changes” or coins that have been neglected and rarely used.The collected coins will be used to fund unfortunate children so they can continue their education. Coin A Chance movement has been adopted in several cities in Indonesia, and even in several cities abroad. Latinusa supports Coin A Chance movement by donating 5000 coin box with special design which will ease collection of those coins.
“We welcome Latinusa’s support for Coin A Chance, especially for the last one year we’ve been trying to invite several companies to work together in producing special coin box for Coin A Chance. Latinusa and Coin A Chance share the same concern regarding children and education. With these 5000 coin box from Latinusa, we hope the spirit of our movement will further spread and attracting more people to join us in collecting coins using those coin boxes, therefore enabling support for more children,” says Nia Sadjarwo, one of Coin A Chance founders.
Latinusa, one of Nippon Steel Corporation subsidiaries, prioritize its CSR activities in education sector. Since 2006, Latinusa has routinely donates schools and Madrasah around PT Latinusa factory in Cilegon.
“Education is an important foundation for a nation’s development, and it is only fitting that education becomes a right for every Indonesian children. That is the reason of our collaboration with Coin A Chance, their movement shows that everyone can participate in providing chances for unfortunate Indonesian children to continue their education. Other than donating the 5000 coin boxes, our office in Jakarta will also join as a dropzone or coin collecting location for Coin A Chance,” says Ardhiman, President Director of Latinusa.
Coin A Chance coin boxes will be distributed to companies and individuals who have participated with Coin A Chance movement. Furthermore, people may contact Coin A Chance founders if they’d like to obtain those coin boxes and participating in collecting coins to return unfortunate Indonesian children to school.
